Subject:Fernie/Vernon relocate

Hello, I am considering either initially spending next winter in either Vernon or Fernie, or moving there completely. I live in southern ontario and have given much research and thought to this.
I love to downhill ski, flatwater paddle and generally enjoy the outdoors. I am in my fifties and on my own.
Here it is hard to meet people with similar interests, and as well as having the outdoors at my beckon call, hopefully will make more friends with common interests.
When I have skiied both fernie and silver star, I have tried ski host programs and enjoyed meeting those folks who and other locals who say there are lots of people who have done what I am thinking and will be easy to make friends in these places.
I have lots of options from renting apartments, or purchasing, so am good on that level; real estate on any level is a comfort zone for me.
Just the decision of which place to try, and any comments about single baby boomers would be really helpful as they relate to these two spots.

P.S.- it's currently raining here, but I bet there is lots of good snow at both mountains I love! |
